That sucks, but I'm not suprised. Now the f-ing government has GM by balls and will force them to build crap. I also read they will drop the GM Performance Parts Division and the upcoming Z28 is on indefinite hold. These are dark times for GM and it's buyers.

I'm holding out hope, as long as they survive and get out of trouble they can start it up again. If they made it through the '70's to the mid eighties with slow cars, they can make it through this.

I'm glad I sold it. I'm happier with what I have now.

Easier to work on?

Much easier to work on and if its anything like my dart I use to have, I can take it out for a flogging and not worry about hurting it. Unlike my camaro, it seemed like it was always some new issue after a spirited drive.

Indeed. Socialism breeds socialism. Too bad most people don't understand economics enough or have enough understanding of history to know what they have asked for and now signed up to get.
GM is supposedly going to be down to 36 models by 2012 and have 9 of them be hybrids under the Governments oversight. Ford, so far, has got it right on this stuff... keep the government out of your board room at ALL costs.

nah they will keep the Camaro but you can say Buh bye to the Z28 that was talked about with the LSA. It was announced GM was in the works on it but i DOUBT it will be a go UNLESS they already have it ready for later this year. Then MAYBE it will be out but i doubt it:(

That is true, but they had far less competition from foreign automakers at that time than they do now. The only way they will be able to survive is if they reduce the weight of the cars by a bit. make them smaller or whatnot. I bet you could get the new camaro down to 1969 camaro weight while still maintaining the crash test rating, AND the car would get better mileage. Even with the V8 engine. I have a feeling that that will be the way to get back in. lightweight cars. just because they are lightweight does not mean they have to suck, that is just the current trend. That and waaaaaaay to many creature features, like NAV and all that extra crap along with all the extra weight by the interior designs. Drop the electric motors for seats, windows and such.

That's right, if they get rid of all the stupid junk in the car it'll bring the weight wayyy down. I don't need the computer aided handling system, keyless start, HID(expensive) headlights, wifi connectivity, Onstar, and so on. I want to be in control of the car while I'm driving it. That's what makes driving an older Camaro or any older car fun. If you screw up and overdrive your capabilities(on a track or deserted road) the only one that's damaged is you and the car through no fault but your own. It used to be the airbags were optional when they first came out on some cars and I'd like it to be that way again. Don't get me wrong, I know they have a purpose and I think they're great. Just let me make the choice of how much crap I want on my car.

Those are some good points, lighter weight alone would help with the fuel economy and lower costs. The one thing I do like about heavier cars is the protection it provides in case of an accident.
